In an increasingly complex world, where public finances play a crucial role in the lives of all citizens, it is essential to have tools that make it easier to understand this area.

With this in mind, the Portuguese Public Finance Council launched the Glossary of Public Finances book on 9 September, at Palácio Galveias Library, in order to promote the strengthening of financial and budgetary literacy, both inside and outside academia.

The book was presented by the President of the CFP, Nazaré da Costa Cabral, the President of the Court of Auditors, José F. F. Tavares, and the President of the Order of Economists, António Mendonça.

In academia, the glossary can serve as a guide for students and teachers, providing clear and concise definitions of technical terms, facilitating the assimilation of complex concepts and thus helping to deepen knowledge of subjects related to Public Finance and Economics.

Outside the academic sphere, this glossary is also useful for citizens in general, allowing them to access definitions of terms related to public management, and thus contributing to a better understanding of the financial policies and decisions that affect their lives.

The glossary now in print will certainly be an instrument for promoting informed public debate on budgetary and financial issues, strengthening democracy and transparency in the management of public resources.

The book, as well as being accessible in digital format here, will soon be available for consultation in libraries and at the Academy.
