George Kopits represented the Portuguese Public Finance Council (CFP) in the informal meeting of the Network of EU Independent Fiscal Institutions held in Bratislava, on September 9. These bodies are politically independent entities created by Member States for monitoring and assessing national fiscal performances. The meeting addressed the network governance and the implementation to date of the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union.

 

In Bratislava, George Kopits took part as well in the conference “Rethinking Fiscal Policy after the Crisis”, on 10th and 11th September, organized by the Council for Budget Responsibility, the Slovak IFI. The CFP non-Executive Member chaired the session “Better institutions for better policy” and addressed the audience as a speaker in the panel “Lessons for policymaking”.
