Noémia Goulart, a member of the Senior Board of the Portuguese Public Finance Council (CFP), spoke at the conference ‘The new financial risks: climate, nature and social issues’, organised by SystemicSphere on 14 October in Lisbon.

Noémia Goulart took part in the event’s first round-table discussion, which focused on climate and natural risks and their economic and financial impact.

The debate examined how extreme weather events can result in losses for businesses, disruptions to operations, increased costs and new investment and adaptation needs.

Noémia Goulart’s participation brought the perspective of public finance to this discussion, in particular the way in which these costs ultimately also feature in the State’s accounts.
