Rui Nuno Baleiras, Executive Member of the Portuguese Public Finance Council, participated in the conference dedicated to the Accounting Day held at School of Economics and Management of the University of Minho, on November 18. Under the title “Accounting and Fraud and Fiscal Evasion“, the debate also included António Dias and Paulo Morais as guest speakers.
As the audience was mainly formed by accounting students, whose area of study is offered by the School of Economics and Management, the Executive Member of the CFP sought to raise awareness among future professionals on the importance of taxpayers incentives and tax authorities to be properly aligned. Rui Nuno Baleiras stressed the usefulness of microeconomic principles to the choice of behavior in the context of risk to be taken into account in the setting up of legal and regulatory instruments to effectively combat tax evasion.
