Rui Nuno Baleiras, Executive Member of the Portuguese Public Finance Council (CFP), participated as a guest speaker in the conference “Theories of the Portuguese State” supported by the University of Minho, 14 March, at 9:30 pm. In his introductory address, the CFP representative pointed to the largely common problems in Portugal on design and implementation of public policies, as this is an important issue for an audience comprising many future officials and economic players of the country, in a context of a new generation of sectoral and cross-cutting policies in Europe as part of the “Europe 2020” economic development strategy.

 

The conference “Theories of the Portuguese State” is part of the XIV National Meeting of Business and Economics Students which is held in the Economics and Business School of University of Minho. The other guest speakers were Luís Campos e Cunha (Nova School of Business and Economics and former Finance Minister) and Abel Fernandes (School of Economics, University of Porto), in a panel chaired by Francisco Veiga (Economics and Business School , University of Minho).
