Unemployed population

The unemployed population corresponds to individuals aged between 15 and 74 years who simultaneously fulfil the following conditions: i) do not have a paid job or any other type of job; ii) were actively seeking for a job during the reference period and; iii) were available to work a paid or unpaid job. Represents the share of the labour force that is not employed.


Unemployment rate

The unemployment rate measures the share of the labour force that is currently not employed, but is actively seeking employment. It is calculated as the ratio of the unemployed population divided by the labour force.
