Patrícia Semião and Noémia Goulart, members of the CFP's Senior Board, participated in the Thematic Conference of the European Union's European Network of IFIs (EU IFI), held in Nicosia, Cyprus, on 10 and 11 February, under the theme ‘Fiscal management in changing times: The initial responses’.
Patrícia Semião was part of the panel ‘IFIs a year in EGR: What are the first impressions?’, dedicated to analysing the initial effects of the economic governance review (EGR) on IFIs (Independent Fiscal Institutions). This panel shared experiences on how the review of European economic governance has changed the mission and technical capacity of IFIs, as well as future challenges related to transparency and communication.
The conference brought together representatives of IFIs and international institutions and experts from across Europe, promoting reflection on the main challenges shaping the future of public finances and economic governance, with an emphasis on quantifying new climate and geopolitical risks, communicating complex issues in a context of social pressure and technological disruption, and the digital transformation of public finances, including central bank digital currencies and artificial intelligence.
