Fiscal developments until the end of the 3rd quarter of 2017

This report examines the fiscal developments in the general government sector up to the end of the 3^rd quarter of 2017. This analysis is based on the macroeconomic statistics released by the national statistical authority (INE) on 30 November, on the Quarterly National Accounts by institutional sector published on 22 December by the INE and on the Quarterly Financial Accounts published on 2 January 2018 by the Bank of Portugal (BoP).

The general government budget aggregates analysed in this text are based on national accounts concepts and in general have not been adjusted for the impact of temporary or one-off measures and special factors. However, adjustments of this nature are shown and explained in the report whenever such treatment leads to a better evaluation of the fiscal consolidation effort.
