Noémia Goulart was in Santiago and Valparaíso, Chile, from 14 to 16 May, at the invitation of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as part of the 17th Annual Meeting of the OECD Working Party of Independent Fiscal Institutions and Parliamentary Budget Offices, held for the first time in Latin America.
The event, which took place in the Chilean Senate, featured several sessions over the three days, including a panel on “Ageing and Pensions”, chaired by Noémia Goulart. The session included presentations by Julie Topoleski, Director of the Long-Term Sustainability Analysis Division at the United States Congressional Budget Office, and Itziar Alberdi, Economist at the Budget Analysis Division of AIReF, Spain, followed by a discussion led by Aldo Cassineli, Director of the School of Government at the Autonomous University of Chile.
The member of the Senior Board of the CFP also took part in the first meeting of Independent Fiscal Institutions and Parliamentary Budget Offices of Latin America, where topics such as budget oversight, fiscal forecasting, fiscal risks, and legislative practices in the budgetary context were discussed.
