9th Meeting of the OECD Paris Collaborative on Green Budgeting

Noémia Goulart participated as a speaker at the 9th Meeting of the OECD Paris Collaborative on Green Budgeting in Paris on the 17th and 18th of this month.

The CFP non-executive member was part of session 3, which explored the outcome of the OECD's Green Budgeting survey, which shows that finance ministries are increasingly integrating climate and environmental considerations at all stages of the budget cycle, and the benefits and challenges of designing and implementing an integrated approach to green budgeting.

Noémia Goulart shared with the working group the CFP's approach to climate issues, giving as examples the occasional documents The Green Budget, The climate dimension of fiscal policy sustainability: best practices in Green Budgeting and lessons for Portugal and Climate change: macro-fiscal risks and challenges, developed by the institution's analysts. The non-executive member of the CFP also referred as an example the Conference "Climate Change, Economy and Public Finances", organized by the CFP in partnership with the Department of Economics of the School of Social Sciences of the University of Évora within the CFP’s Cycle of Conferences 2022, and highlighted some of the country's advances in this area.

The OECD Paris Collaborative for Green Budgeting seeks close partnership with governments around the OECD and beyond to co-design practical and pragmatic approaches to put Green Budgeting into action.
